Which old witch? Why, that old harpy Chelsea of course! It was so lovely to see them bow out, not with a bang, but a whimper. And not just in the Champion's League - the dreams of a three-peat have all but evaporated with the draw at home to Bolton last weekend.
The only great sadness here is that their loss of the league crown hands it to ManU. Ah well, at least the Red Devils play with a bit of passion and don't turn in the sort of negative, soul-less, mercenary outings that Chelsea put on display at Anfield yesterday.
Of course, all of this pales in comparison to the pain of Sheffield Wednesday falling just short in their late season run for a playoff spot in the Championship. It was a wonderful effort that I haven't really discussed here for fear that I would jinx things. Ah well - here's hoping it gives the Owls some confidence going into next season. I really would love to be able to watch them on FSC in 2008, rather than on crappy web video.
