Okay, rather than that staid old, winner-take-all "next coach" poll that the Goffster is running, I'm going to run a tournament-poll competition in honor of our beloved MLS Cup playoffs. So take a look at the names that Goff has listed and toss out any others that you feel are missing in the comments below so I can start to assemble the group stages (oh yes, we're going there, my friends!).
Go to work, hive mind!
Earnie Stewart

BORA???
El Diablo
ReplyDeleteRichie Williams
Spencer
Clarke
Good God Not Harkes
Somebody will inevitably suggest Olsen and/or Moreno as player/coach...
Chris Armas!

This isn't the Fire board? Farg.
I would say Preki.
ReplyDeleteHe will build our back, he knows how to choose effective players. Hope Chivas are that dumb to let him go.
Some are saying Williams, but don't think he's a long term prospect.
This is an awesome idea; wish I'd thought of it first! In addition to the 9 candidates listed by Goff, you should also include: Moreno, Olsen, Etcheverry, Hamlett, Ashton.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to predict Williams vs Preki in the finals, but Olsen could be a dark horse.
Anon 1 and AMT already covered Stewart and El Diablo, so here's some additional fodder.
ReplyDeleteWilmer Cabrera
Cirovski
Jay Vidovich
and....oh what the hell...Klinsman!
He already said that all the names goff listed would be included... so there is no point in repeating those...
ReplyDeleteSo far it looks like we've seriously suggested:
Stewart
Diaz Arce
Hamlett
Ashton
Cabrera
Vidovich
This to go along with:
Williams
Onalfo
Sarachan
Spencer
Preki
Clarke
Cirovski
Harkes
Dooley
Thats a solid 15... i say FBF
takes one more and runs with it! 16 coaches... 4 groups of 4... only one can survive!!
I didn't include Moreno or Olsen bc i see them both returning and I didn't include El Diablo b/c he just took a job coaching in his native country and I highly doubt he'd leave it so soon...
All names will be included, no matter how far-fetched! Minnows are fun, neh? After all, either Bahrain or New Zealand will make the World Cup, right?
ReplyDeleteKeep them coming. The groups are shaping up now but there's always room for a few more to be shoehorned in...
If we are going for far-fetched then I'm going to throw in bringing back Thomas Rongen!
ReplyDeleteNominations are now closed. Get your asses to the Group Stage!
