MLS Table Talk (Week 16) - The Pack is Back!

Fresh from the All-Star "break" and the pack is back as Dallas are inexorably sucked back towards the scrum in places 3-8, where the teams are separated by just three points. It's worth noting that every one of those teams, save the Crew, have games in hand on the table-topping-Texan-twins. The playoff pack has also managed to open a 5-point gap over the trio of Toronto, Colorado, and Chicago, all of whom need to find their form soon or risk being left by the wayside in the race for the top 8 spots.

The points per game table tells a similar story as the Crew have pushed themselves clear of their nearest challengers and are now hot on the heels of the sides above them. The goals continue to flow for the Revs, who tip the scales at a heady 1.81 goals per game, while the Dynamo still boast a miserly 0.68 goals against per game despite surrendering three to the Revs at the weekend.

Moribund Chicago and RSL continue to set the pace for futility with each averaging right around 0.8 goals scored per game and nearly double that surrendered. The biggest wild card continues to be the Galaxy. Will all that wheeling and dealing pay off? They've got anywhere from three to seven games in hand on the rest of the table and will face a punishing schedule the rest of the way. They're a tasty enigma, wrapped in sweet cheesy mystery, and stuffed in a artery-clogging conundrum.
