Scapegoat #2 On His Merry Way?

And the hits just keep on comin'!

Lots to talk about today after Goff provides us with the shocker that Wells' confidence may be so entirely shot that he's contemplating leaving the game altogether. Figures that he'd screw us one more time, doesn't it? I mean, we could have gotten a lower round draft pick (not that they're worth much anymore, but beggars can't be choosers) at the very least from somebody. But by walking away, we won't even get a pittance when he shuffles off into the sunset.

But there is a silver lining. Talks with 2nd round draft pick, Milos Kocic, have been ongoing, and having Wells step back clears a senior roster spot that we could use to finally reel the big man in. Of course, with the FO's confidence being similarly shot, maybe they'll lowball Kocic with a developmental deal, leading to his bolting for Europe, after which they'll use the extra senior slot to sign a big, journeyman lower division forward (haven't we been down this road before?).

As for the rest, you can read Goff as well as I can (getting Benny Fever yet?).

  1. That's a harsh viewpoint about Wells there. I don't think I appreciate it very much. I'd rather offer him support than criticism. Sounds like he's going through a rough spot.

  2. I can understand a surgeon having to walk away because a mistake in the OR resulted in a patient's death and shook his faith in his abilities, but this is hardly in the same category of psychological trauma, is it?

Still, you're entitled to be supportive if you so choose, and more power to you for being a better man than I. I can't help it that I'm a cold-hearted, cynical bastard ;-).

Just out of curiosity, what was your reaction to Ty Harden's "retirement" from LA last pre-season? And are you ever going to come out of your own self-imposed "retirement" from blogging?
