Dev Dollars refers to the woeful pittance that MLS expects its non-marquee young players (those on "developmental" contracts) to live on. Any way you slice it, working for $12,900 or $17,700 is sure to have those developmental players wondering if they really are part of a "professional" sports league and not shift supervisors at the local fast food joint.
Looks like the salaries have gone up a bit. I think that was the point of reducing the roster size. I'm seeing most of the salaries in the 20k - 35k range so far.
