Trolling the Futblogosphere

Time for some quick stops at various ports of call around the Futblogosphere...

Just Talkin' Bout Stats...Shut Your Mouth!

More numbers than you can shake a stick at over on Quarter Volley, this time taking a look at MLS defense and goalkeeping. The upshot for United fans? We've faced the second-most shots and are tied for third-most shots on frame. Regardless of how well we're doing going forward and how much more solid we've seemed to be looking defensively, those are not happy numbers. Of course, those rankings go down somewhat when you factor in games played, but not that far. Considering our unsettled goalkeeping situation (we're back to Crayton or Wicks this weekend), perhaps Tommy's 3-5-2 needs to be brought under the microscope a bit.

And The Depth Keeps Building

USA midfielder José Francisco Torres, all 5'5" and 21 years of him, struck from distance with a lefty drive to help open Pachuca's account in the Mexican post-season. Witness (at the 40 second mark or so)...

Between the continuing growth of Torres at Pachuca (Mexico), Edu at Rangers (Scotland), and Bradley Jr. at Munchengladwhatever (Germany), plus the return of Benny Feilhaber at AGF (Denmark), the USA's pool of young central midfielders is teaming with talent flourishing in international waters.

The Preview Cometh!

The United-Chivas match preview will be coming tonight or tomorrow morning, but in the meantime (via BTB)...

Hey, Clyde! How about one of these as a belated birthday gift for my daughter? More later...
